The Master Plan for Lancaster’s Parks, Recreation & Arts will be parallel to and inform the City’s General Plan update and emerging Downtown Lancaster Specific Plan. The planning process presents an exciting opportunity to assess and plan for future facilities, programming and opportunities as the City continues to grow and expand.

General Plan
The City’s General Plan provides an opportunity for the City to develop a vision for the future and decide how land uses and general plan development can support that vision. Subdivisions, public works, redevelopment projects, zoning decisions, as well as the Parks Master Plan must all align with policies set in the General Plan. The State of California requires all cities to develop a General Plan.

For more information on the update of the General Plan and how to be involved in the planning process, isit the project website or call Dave Ledbetter, General Plan Project Manager, at (661) 723-6248.

Downtown Plan
Lancaster is currently embarking on developing a Downtown Lancaster Specific Plan which will focus on revitalizing Downtown Lancaster to celebrate history and culture and be a center of social, economic and civic energy. The development of the plan will involve the community, including residents, policy makers, businesses and property owners. Community participation has included comment cards from residents and a three-day “Downtown Immersion” event held in late May.
